Monument to the founders of Yekaterinburg

prosp. Lenina, 32, Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk region, Russia

Description:

In memory of the founders of the city of Yekaterinburg, a monument to V. N. Tatishchev and V. I. de Gennin was erected. No wonder that the location of the monument was chosen the central part of the city - Lenin Avenue, near Plotinka. The opening of the architectural monument to the founders of the city was timed to the 275th anniversary of the city (1998). The author was a sculptor from Moscow P.P. Chusovitin. The monument is cast in bronze and consists of 19 parts.

The history of the creation of the city by two very different people is very fascinating. V.N. Tatishchev arrived in the Urals in 1970. The purpose of the visit is the reconstruction and development of mining plants. For the construction of a new large-scale plant, Tatishchev chose a place located upstream of the Iset River. Construction began, but suddenly Berg College banned construction. There was a conflict between Tatishchev and Demidov. The latter wrote a denunciation, because of which Tatishchev was under investigation, but was acquitted.

Tatishchev was replaced by V. I. de Gennin. He continued his work: he began the construction of a huge factory and a new administrative center on the square chosen by Tatishchev. It is to him that the citizens owe the name of the city of Yekaterinburg.

Thus, the founders of the city of Yekaterinburg are considered V. N. Tatishchev and V. I. de Gennin.
