Metro station "Square of 1905"
Russia, the city of Yekaterinburg, the intersection of Eighth March Street and Theatre Lane
Description:
Metro station "Square of 1905" is named after the central square of Yekaterinburg. It is located in the very center of the city - on the Eighth March street, near its intersection with Lenin Avenue. The station was opened in December 1994, construction work lasted about thirteen years. The depth of the station is about thirty-five meters. By design, the station is three-folded, column type. There are two escalators at the station.
The design of the station, designed by architects Zaslavsky and Maslennikov, supports the revolutionary theme set by the name. The contrasting combination of red granite columns and white marble of the track walls creates a sense of rigor and solemnity. The interior of the station is complemented by bronze medallions and Florentine mosaics on the walls, as well as chandeliers and sconces of bronze and crystal.
