Weiner Street
Description:
Weiner Street is one of the most popular places in Yekaterinburg among tourists visiting the capital of the Urals. This is one of the few pedestrian streets of the city, the so-called Ural Arbat.
This street in the heart of the city received its modern name in 1919 after the name of the Bolshevik L.I. Weiner, who died on the fronts of the civil war. Before the revolution it was known as the Assumption. This name originated from the Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God in the New Tikhvin Monastery, which was clearly visible from this street. This is one of the oldest streets in the city. Now the former name of the street resembles the popular shopping center “Uspensky” located here.
Currently, the commercial value of the street remains. Walking down the street, the eyes are full of numerous advertising shops.
There are many architectural monuments on Weiner: the building "Passage", the printing house "Granit", the former building of the Russian-Asian Bank, the house of E.A. Telegin, E.A. Khrebtova, N.V. Lazarev, Blinov, Vtorov, Kosmin, etc.
