Since 2003, the Museum of History, Science and Technology of the Sverdlovsk Railway is located in the building of the first railway station in Yekaterinburg. The old station was built by architect P. P. Schreiber and is a monument of history and culture of the X1st century.

In 2004, the project of restoration of the Yekaterinburg railway station received two awards: “Bronze diploma” of the Union of Architects of Russia at the 12th international festival “Architectural Architecture 2004” and first place at the regional competition “The Hand of the Master” in the field of architectural and design works.

The building of the station after the restoration was transformed – and at the same time, remained recognizable for citizens, since the decision to preserve its architectural appearance was made initially. The first railway station is valuable for the history of the city, it is he captured on one of the first photographic images of Yekaterinburg in the late 80s of the 19th century. The station of the city has been preserved to this day in an unchanged form, along with such architectural monuments as the Kharitonov-Rastorguev estate, the Mountain Pharmacy, the Malakhov house, etc.
