Museum of Dolls and Children's Book "Wonderland"

yekaterinburg, St. Proletarian, 16

About the company:

It is the only museum in the world that combines a collection of dolls and books, as it features a large number of dolls - literary characters. The Museum of Dolls and Children's Books was opened in the Literary Quarter on October 31, 1994. It was located in the house where from 1880 to 1883 the family of D. N. Mamin-Sibiyarka lived, who rented a room with the owner of the house - the wife of the surveyor of the Berezovsky mine H. I. Cherepanova. In this house was written one of the first versions of the novel "Privalov millions". Until 2003, this house housed an exhibition of private collections, the scientific and educational department of the United Museum of Writers of the Urals and regular exhibitions of puppets.

Currently, the house is fully transferred to the museum of dolls and children's book "Wonderland". The museum changes its exhibition every two years. Now there is an exhibition "Puppet stories told in the moonlight" and two temporary exhibitions: "Tales of Bazhov in the art of doll artists", "Golden jubilee of the Barbie doll".

The museum actively cooperates with the collector and doll master Elena Lisina, all exhibitions are prepared in close cooperation.

The exhibition presents rare children's books of the XIX and XX centuries, various books of fairy tales. For children, the museum organizes holidays and mornings, competitions and puppet performances.
