A.S. Popov Radio Museum
About the company:
In 1986, the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local History opened its branch - the Museum of Radio named after A.S. Popov. Its founder was the great-niece of the creator of the radio, which was supported by the head of the Sverdlovsk Radio Club. The museum was organized in the former house of the priest, who later became a member of the Popov family. During his studies at the theological school, Alexander Stepanovich lived here for two years.
The house-museum also includes the original belongings of the inventor, located in the room in which he lived.
The entire museum is divided into halls displaying the creation and development of radio science. The technical hall of the XIX-early XX century provides visitors with the opportunity to see the oldest Morse apparatus, which has worked for more than a century. It is in such good condition that it is still possible to type a telegram. All kinds of machines, plates, coils and devices fill the hall and introduce the history of technology. The exhibit of the early 30s - a wooden box with a glass bulge - the first mechanical TV, causes the delight of visitors.
The other room is dedicated entirely to the history of recording. All kinds of gramophones, gramophones, reel tape recorders, phonographs are presented here in a wide variety and in serviceability. Museum staff will gladly present for you the records of different decades of the last century.
A separate room is given to equipment that works during the war years. The exhibits tell about the role they played in the victory over the enemy.
And the last exhibition is modern receivers and players. Exhibits of several decades show where science and progress have taken our love of music and radio communication.
