For 30 years there is a district local history museum in the village of Turinskaya Sloboda. Its founder was a local historian, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a history teacher M.D. Eliseev. It is located in an ancient mansion of the middle of the XIX century, in the house where the merchant E.G. Rudnev lived.
Over the years of its existence, more than 12,000 items have accumulated in the funds. These items store the history of the land of Slobodoturinskaya, telling about interesting and memorable dates. The exposition consists of 4 sections: nature, archaeology, ethnography, history. In addition, the museum annually opens new exhibitions: exhibitions from private collections, exhibitions dedicated to the dates of Russian and local history, imported exhibitions.
The main visitors of the museum are children. To work with them, a cultural and educational program “Museum and Children” was developed. The programme covers a long period of time and includes extensive topics. It tells about the amazing world of the museum, immerses children in the folk life of Russian peasants, in folk culture. Helpers in all this are genuine museum objects.
