Turbage "Chusovaya" is located on the left bank of the Chusovaya river behind the village of Sloboda (until 1987 it was called Kourovskaya by name near the station). The camp is located on a high rock called "Dog Ribs". This is the first camp in the Urals, converted from the old tannery building. It received the first tourists on October 29, 1934. In 1941-1945, a hospital for soldiers of the Great Patriotic War was located in the building of the camp. Nowadays, the tourist base "Chusovaya" - one of the largest in the Urals, operates year-round.

The Chusovaya River, being the left tributary of the Kama River, is one of the largest and most beautiful rivers of the Urals. Chusovaya flows through the territory of three regions: Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk and Perm. The beginning takes in the north of the Chelyabinsk region, in the middle course passes twice from the Sverdlovsk region to the Perm and ends its way in the area of the city of Perm - in the Kama reservoir. The length of the river is 777 km, the area of the basin is 42.000 sq. km. Within the Pervouralsky district, it flows at a distance of 110 km. and takes in many tributaries. The largest: Talitsa, Big and Chetayev Shaitanks, Bilimbayka, Makarovka, Bitimka, Cheremshanka, Black, Shishim, Utka, Kamenka, Siberia. Chusovaya has unique features: it is the only river flowing through two parts of the world - Asia and Europe; it begins on the eastern slope of the Ural range, crosses it and ends on the western slope.

The river probably got its name from the distorted Komi-Permian language, perhaps from Udmurt, where "chus" means "squirrel", "agile"; "va" in Komi-Permian - water. A.K. Matveev explains the origin of the name of the river. Now it is pronounced and written Chusovaya, or local Chusova, but apparently, once there was Chusva. What do you mean, "chuck"? In the modern Komi-Permyak language, there is no such word, although the names of the Northern Chus and Midday Chus rivers in the Komi-Permyatsk National District are still preserved, but the Udmurt “chus” means “squint”, “agile”. "Boycheye" Chusova in the Middle Urals is difficult to find. Therefore, the word "chus" in meaning is very suitable. Few rivers cut the watershed of mountain systems, and Chusovaya flows through and across the Ural Mountains.

Over time, the Komi-Permyak language was forgotten and the word “chus”, preserved in the related Udmurt in the hydronyms Chusva (Chusovaya) and Chus. But why in one case Chusva, and in another without - you just Chus? Hydronym was known to Russians from the XIV century and in this, already Russian word geographical term - VA remained, although in a transformed form. And the river names Northern and Noon Chus continued to develop in the Komi-Permyak environment and lost the element - wa. There was a disappearance of the term, unnecessary, since the meaning of the adjective Chus was forgotten, and the word Chus became simply an incomprehensible toponym. Such cases are at least toponymous.”
Since ancient times, and the first mention in ancient chronicles refers to 1396, Chusovaya served man. The development of the river by the Russians began from the XIV century. According to the charters of Tsar Ivan IV in 1558, Stroganov merchants received “for ever” extensive possessions in the redistributions of the upper and middle reaches of the Kama and its tributaries, and in 1568 the “country of Chusovia” from the mouth to the sources and 20 versts from the shores was given to these merchants in full power.

Отдыхали с другом в июне 2011 года (номер люкс, корпус Часовой) . Впечатления - турбаза расположена в очень красивом месте. Корпуса и номера остро нуждаются в обновлении (все обшарпанное, в номере довольно грязно) Что удивило - это полное отсутствие профессионального менеджмента базы. Есть в столовой - просто невозможно, качество блюд напоминает советскую столовую 80х годов (на завтрак каша, нам попалась ячневая и пшенная), все это подается на разномастных щербатых тарелках. На столах грязь. Решили вместо ужина арендовать беседку для шашлыков. В беседке стол был настолько грязный, что мы не решились использовать его по назначению. В субботу в 7.30! утра нас разбудил звук газонокосилки. Какой тут может быть отдых? Решили пойти вечером в русскую баню. Сюрприз: это не баня, как заявляется, а сауна, в душе нет горячей воды и грязь такая, что страшно заходить. Так что, делайте выводы. Лично мне жалко, что такое замечательное место превратили в свинарник.
