Yelets Literary and Memorial Museum of the Writer I.A. Bunin

On June 4, 1988, the Museum of Ivan Alekseevich Bunin was opened in the city of Yelets, the only memorial museum of the classic of Russian literature I.A. Bunin. This is the first museum in Russia dedicated to the life and work of Ivan Bunin. It is located in a wooden house of the XIX century, owned by Anna Osipovna Rostovtseva on the street Rozhdestvenskaya. Here in the gymnasium years (1881-1886) Ivan Bunin lived for three years. It is noteworthy that the layout of the interior has been preserved since Bunin times. The exposition of the museum is built on the basis of the connection of the writer’s work with his native land. The most valuable exhibits of the museum: photos of the writer of different years, lifetime publications, his personal belongings, his favorite hunting rifle, a copy of the Nobel Prize diploma, as well as a witness of world triumph - an old suitcase with which Ivan Alekseevich went to Stockholm for an award - cause constant interest and pride of the great compatriot.
