Great Yashalta Lake

Russia, Republic of Kalmykia, Yashalta district

Description:

The lake is located in Kalmykia, in the Yashalta district, between the villages of Solnoye and Berezovskoye. The reservoir belongs to a vast lake group tied to the Western Manych River, known as the ancient strait between two seas - the Black and Caspian. From the rest of the lakes of the Manych group, Yashaltinskoe is distinguished by a unique composition of bottom sediments and water, which have a pronounced therapeutic effect. Dzhalginskoe (as in the XIX century called the lake) managed to surprise the healing effect on the body in 1862. Retired soldiers who worked on the harvesting of food salt often complained of rheumatism and illnesses left after injuries. However, many returned home healthy and strong. It is this fact and the feat of the local authorities to organize therapeutic baths near the lake. Studies of modern doctors, conducted in Kalmykia in 2001, once again confirmed the uniqueness of the mud of the Yashalta Lake, significantly superior to the properties of the mud resorts of the North Caucasus.
