Sculpture "Dragon Lou"

The sculpture “Dragon Lou” is a large stone statue depicting a reclining dragon, stylized in the oriental manner. The statue is installed in Elista, the capital of Kalmykia, opposite the city hotel.

The sculpture was created in 1997 as part of the international biennial competition held in Elista. The author of the "Dragon" was the famous sculptor H. Dongak from Tuva, who created his sculpture according to all the canons of the ancient art of carving on Tuvan stone. The material of the creator was a greenish agalmolite - a beautiful fine-grained stone. The statue is located on a low rectangular pedestal and decorates a small square in front of the hotel "Elista".

Today, the sculpture “Lu” is one of the most interesting works of street art in Elista, and it is rare that any tourist will miss the opportunity to take a picture next to it.
