Locomotive monument of the "L" series
Description:
Locomotive series "L" - installed January 27, 2010 in the middle of the roundabout streets Lesozavodskaya and Soviet. For its delivery to the installation site, a special railway with a length of 570 meters was built. The design of the locomotive was made in the 1940s at the machine-building plant of the city of Kolomna. In 1945, a new locomotive "P-0001" for the first time made a near trip from Kolomna to Rybnoye station and back, dragging a train weighing 2300 tons. Initially, the locomotive received a series “P”, which meant “Victory”. And already in 1947, the locomotive was awarded a series of "L" in honor of the chief designer Lev Lebedyansky. Locomotives of the L series entered the Ryazan-Ural Railway (now the Volga Railway) in 1948-1949. This type of locomotive was operated on the territory of the Saratov and Volgograd branches until 1965 - before the transition to diesel traction.
