Aivazovsky Gallery
98100 Russia, Crimea, Feodosia, str. Gallery, 2
About the company:
The opening of the gallery dates back to 1880. The first exhibition hall was built by Aivazovsky himself in his hometown of Feodosia. From the first paintings came glory to his paintings! Aivazovsky bequeathed his unique gallery to his native city. According to his will, since 1922 the museum became a state museum. Today, many famous artists and nuggets of our time hold their exhibitions in the museum.
The main property of the museum, of course, are the paintings of Aivazovsky himself: there are 417 of their works. In addition to the works of the great marine painter, there are portraits of Aivazovsky and his family members, a photographic archive and important documents. And in the safe room there are valuables of the artist’s family, some of which have not been exhibited anywhere before.
The exhibits clearly convey the style of the era in which the artist lived, and quite unusually tell about the work and life of Aivazovsky. Of particular value is one of the exhibits – an easel with a notebook, the cover of which is engraved with the landscape of Aivazovsky’s painting “The Great Raid in Kronstadt”. In the windows-cubes exhibited household items of the artist and unique decorative circles of the Imperial porcelain factory. And in horizontal windows, greeting cards presented to the artist and richly decorated with jewelry shine.
In the building next to the gallery there is another museum that is worth visiting - the House of the artist's sister here are some paintings by Aivazovsky, as well as works by his contemporaries.
