Museum of sculptor Vera Mukhina
About the company:
Who can answer what is the connection between the ordinary Soviet faceted glass and the invariable historical symbol of the Soviet Union – the sculpture “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman”? The answer is simple and unexpected: both appeared thanks to the sculptor Vera Ignatievna Mukhina.
Sculptor Vera Mukhina spent her childhood years in Feodosia. Local artists put a lot of effort into creating her memorial museum. Thanks to their persistence, it was possible to preserve the facade of the old mansion - the house where V.I. Mukhina lived. Moreover, a successful architectural solution allowed it to fit into the wall of a new residential five-storey building.
The museum and exhibition complex opened on July 2, 1991. The new museum exhibits helped the companions of the great sculptor - Z.G. Ivanov and N.G. Zelenskaya. They handed over furniture belonging to Mukhina: a wardrobe and Viennese chairs, as well as plaster sketches by Vera Ignatievna, a vase of red glass, negatives, photographs, manuscripts of memories. A.Sergeev, a student and assistant of Mukhina, presented three of her sketches to the exposition: plaster - for the sculpture "Fertility", wax - for the project of the fountain "Ivan Tsarevich" and the sculpture "Flame of the Revolution". In addition, he gave the museum a large number of his own works, including a bronze bas-relief Mukhina, photographs and documents.
The museum has two original sketches for the famous sculpture "Worker and Collective Farm Woman". In total, there are more than 1,700 exhibits.
