The Gdova Museum was founded in 1919. During the Great Patriotic War it was destroyed by the Nazis, as well as the whole city. In the postwar years, enthusiastic teachers Nikolai Vladimirovich Ivanov and Vera Vladimirovna Belyakova threw a cry for the restoration of the Gdovsk museum. The fund of the museum is formed almost entirely on the gifts of residents of Gdova and the district. Complemented with materials of archaeological excavations. For visitors, the greatest interest is the history of the Gdovskaya fortress, the history of the temple inside the fortress; materials about the Battle of Ice, the history of the Konovnitsyn family and the town of Kyarovo, where the ashes of the Hero of the Patriotic War of 1812 Konovnitsyn Peter Petrovich rest. The museum has the Club of Old Residents, a public organization with about 100 members and has existed for 25 years. |
