Dolmens and waterfalls on r. Janet

The pedestrian part of the tour starts from the bridge in the c. Revival through R. Janet. Immediately in 100 m behind it the first waterfall Lower height of 3 meters. Then the country road leads through orchards, and then the path, turning to the left, leads to a group of three dolmens.

Prominent etymologist Trubachev O.N. on the basis of the place names of the Caucasian and Crimean coast of the Black Sea, it was proved that in ancient times, Indo-Aryan peoples lived here, some of which in the II millennium BC went to conquer the Hindustan Peninsula. Living here, they worshiped the goddess of death-rebirth Kali, and the dolmens were the altars of their religion.

The most famous in the Caucasus dolmen complex on the river. Jeanet, consisting of a central tile (Royal) and two composite dolmens, was one of the main sanctuaries of this religion. On Tsarskoye a lot of original graphics, bearing an ancient meaning, incomprehensible even to most modern people - rune P, zigzags and triangles. The shape of the two lateral dolmens of this group imitates one of the truncated cone-shaped heads found nearby. A copy of this head in the Tuapse district is considered a sacred stone of Shapsugs. The outlines of the ridges around the Gelendzhik Bay and the bay itself resemble the front slab of a Caucasian-type tiled dolmen. The most significant dolmens were with a rune "P" on the front plate. There are only three such in the Western Caucasus and all in Gelendzhik. These new data change the accepted classification of dolmens.

The author proceeded from the historical continuity of cultures and beliefs between terrestrial civilizations that succeeded each other. His hypothesis is that in Gelendzhik 7000 years ago there was a priestly proto-state with the cult of the goddess Kali and developed mythology. Then there was the first patriarchal cult with the head of the pantheon, the god of heaven. Later, along with waves of migrations of peoples through this part of the Caucasus, it spread from Europe to Asia and Africa.

Based on the analysis of myths, legends, fairy tales, similarities of languages of Indo-Aryans and Eastern Slavs, it can be concluded that they lived in a single territory for some time. The homeland of the Slavs was Taman Island. There already in the VI century AD there was a Russian diocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Modern genetics also confirms the kinship of Indo-Aryans and Eastern Slavs.

After another 500 meters on both sides of the road in the thickets of oak and grub there are in large numbers medieval burial grounds - small mounds. And a little higher you can see another male dolmen with an upper plate, similar to a mushroom cap and several dolmen collapses. After three kilometers, the gorge narrows. And the Emerald Waterfall opens to the eye. It consists of several cascades. Under the upper waterfall formed a large, convenient for bathing bowl - Love. Further, the river overcomes the slalom track among the heap of huge stone blocks. It’s never as hot as the sea, so many people come here in the summer. There are many more waterfalls up the river.

Before the revolution, this gorge served as a hunting estate for Prince Oldenburg, son-in-law of Tsar Nicholas II.
