About the company:

Dacha of Vladimir Korolenko

Stone two-storey house, located among the mountains and not far from the sea, very liked Korolenko. Here he wrote his memoirs about Chekhov and Chernyshevsky, and sent 400 correspondence to various journals.

Over time, a garden, a vineyard, melons appeared on the site. On all sides, the dacha is surrounded by a forest in which chestnuts, pines, cypresses, yews grow. One of the attractions of the estate is the Lebanese cedar planted by the writer's brother Hilarion. The sign under the tree reads: "Cedar Lebanese "Beauty". Age is over 130 years. It grows wildly in the mountains of Asia Minor, reaches the age of 3000 years, a height of 40 m and a trunk diameter of 11 m.”

History of the museum

The need to create a museum began in the 1940s. However, military action prevented these plans from being implemented. After the Great Patriotic War, in the 1950s, activists tried again. So, in 1953, a corner of the writer was opened in a small room in the wing, and in 1957 a memorial plaque appeared about the stay of Korolenko in these parts.

A full museum appeared only in 1964. It was the only almost completely preserved estate on the territory near Gelendzhik. There are no other Korolenko museums in Russia.

The appearance and furnishings of the house remained as they were under Korolenko. Here you can see the bed on which the writer slept, and the samovar standing on the dining table. After inspecting the room itself, you can climb to the roof of the wing, which smoothly passes into the rock. Several utility rooms are simply cut down in the mountain, so they are always cool.
