About the company:
The historical and cultural museum-reserve of the Udmurt Republic "Idnakar" named after M.G. Ivanova is the only archaeological museum-reserve in the territory of Udmurtia. The basis of the museum is a monument of federal significance “Idnakar City of IX-XIII centuries”, which is located 4 km from the center of Glazov, and a building in which expositions, exhibitions and funds are located. Now the museum has three permanent expositions: “Idnakar Town IX-XIII centuries A.D.”, “Origins”. Polomsk archaeological culture V-IX, “Nature of the North of Udmurtia”, as well as two exhibition halls with interchangeable exhibitions.
The archaeological collections of IKMZ UR “Idnakar” contain unique materials of monuments of the Cheptsa River basin during the formation of ethnic associations of the Middle Ages. Collections include tools, household items and weapons, jewelry, unfinished products at different stages of their manufacture and form the basis for revealing many aspects of the material and spiritual culture of the Finno-Ugric population that left them. The materials of the collection cover the chronological framework of the Polomsk (V-VIII centuries AD) and Chepetsk (IX-XIII centuries AD) cultures and reflect the history and ethnogenesis of the Udmurt population of the Cheptsa River basin.
The building of the museum-reserve has a unique interactive open-air complex "Fortress of the hero Idna". Visitors to the museum can see a fragment of the fortress wall, a model of a medieval forge, an archaeological “sandbox”, imitating a real excavation, an ancient hearth, as well as a large-scale layout of the Idnakar settlement.
