Recreation center "Albagan" in the city of Gorno-Altaisk

You will be able to feel the pristine nature after a few days in the deserted, almost untouched by civilization area of the tourist base "Albagan Shelter". The travel area is located around the geographical center of the Altai Mountains - Lake Uymen. The places here are picturesque and unique. They are shrouded in myths and legends and await their discoverers. This “Terra Incognita” from Katun in the West to the Chulyshman River and Teletskoye Lake in the East is mysterious and holds earthly secrets.

If you look closely at the map of the Altai Republic, you can see that around the geographical center of the Altai Mountains - Lake Uymen - there is an area completely devoid of roads and settlements. Tourist infrastructure, of course, developed in the Altai as a whole, as if not touched these places.

The real "Terra Incognita" from Katun in the west to the Chulyshman River and Teletskoye Lake in the east is the main watershed of the North-Eastern Altai, formed by the Iolgo, Sumultinsky and Altyn-Tuu ridges. From here originate such rivers as Uymen, Sarakoksa, Pyzha, Chile, Chebdar, Sumulta, etc.

As soon as you reach the shelter "Albagan", you are almost at the goal - our camp is located in the heart of the "unknown land", which we described above.

Here, on the left bank of the Lodge River, at an altitude of 1100 m above sea level, we tried to create all the necessary conditions for a comfortable and unforgettable dive into the world of the Altai Mountains.

A two-storey residential building, a cafe-bar in the form of an Altai national dwelling (aila) with an open hearth inside, a bath on the banks of a mountain stream, two-seat summer houses-bungalows; a helipad, electricity from a micro-hydroelectric power station, radio communication - all these "modern amenities" will not prevent you from feeling disconnected from civilization for a moment and fully enjoy the unique mountain nature.
