A. Anokhin National Museum

The National Museum of the Altai Republic named after A.V. Anokhin, located in Gorno-Altaisk, is one of the first scientific, cultural and educational institutions of the Republic. The museum owes its birth to the artist and statesman G.I. Choros - Gurkin, who initiated the acquisition of paleontological, mineralogical collections, scientific library and archive of famous Siberian scientists Gulyaev by the Karakoram-Altai Zemstvo government. This is the basis of the future museum.

One of the first organizers and directors was the well-known researcher of the traditional culture of the peoples of Southern Siberia A.V. Anokhin (1869-1931), whose name since 1989 bears the museum.
