I invite you to a walk in the unique Gorodets, the most ancient city of the Nizhny Novgorod region, older than Nizhny by almost 70 years. It is believed that it was founded by Yuri Dolgoruk already in 1152, becoming a city fortress, outpost, place of gathering of squads of Russian principalities. It was in Gorodets that the life of the great Alexander Nevsky ended, where on his return from the Horde he accepted the monastic schema in the Feodorovsky monastery. Even the worst ruins of Gorodets could not prevent the desire of the Russian people to live here. Every time they restore it, no matter what. And what masters lived in Gorodets. No wonder city crafts are known throughout the country: printed gingerbread, city painting, gold embroidery, pottery, construction of ships, wood carving. The city is now a leader in many endeavors.
