Place de la Glory
Russia, Khabarovsk Territory, Khabarovsk, Square of Glory
Description:
One of the main assets of Khabarovsk is the Glory Square. It was here that a memorial complex was built, timed to the 30th anniversary of the Victory from the Day of the Great Patriotic War and in memory of the labor exploits of workers of the Khabarovsk Territory.
The square is located in the city center, on a high hill that approaches the Amur. The adjacent street adjacent to the square is the main city street - Lenin Street.
The center of the square is decorated with a 30-meter obelisk, which is three vertically located steles of reinforced concrete. It has been a symbol of peace for three decades since the end of the war. The obelisk is crowned by a metal plate - a fluttering banner, which depicts a five-pointed star and a hammered sickle, and at the bottom - a laurel branch.
Golden letters on the stele are stamped the names of 58 Heroes of the Soviet Union - natives of the Khabarovsk Territory. And on the other side are the names of 6 knights of the Order of Glory of three degrees and Heroes of Socialist Labor (61 surnames).
In the north-eastern part of the square there is a stele wall, lined with relief blocks of stars. It shows merits to the Motherland. The entire surface of the square is covered with decorative tiles.
