Amur River

Khabarovsk, Russia

Description:

One of the great Far Eastern rivers has a romantic name Amur. Water arteries Bureya, Zeya, Ussuri are its tributaries. The Amur basin covers a huge territory – more than 1.8 million square kilometers of Mongolian, Chinese and, of course, Russian land.

Along the entire river and its tributaries stretch wetlands, which are very valuable complexes. For millions of birds, this site is the most important in migration, not to mention the fact that this place is used for the reproduction of fish herds. The length of the river is as much as 2824 kilometers.

However, the unique nature of Amur calls for help. Human impact on ecosystems has increased many times over the past century, as the population near the river basin has increased hundreds of times.
