The cathedral was built in record time - in just two years. In 2003, upon completion of the construction, Bishop Mark of Khabarovsk and Amur served the first thanksgiving prayer service. The Holy Transfiguration Cathedral is a temple with five golden domes.
The highest is 83 meters. Built on the banks of the Amur by architects Yuri Zhivetiev, Nikolai Prokudin and Evgeny Semenov, the temple can accommodate more than three thousand people. The internal painting of the temple, namely the frescoes on the dome of the Savior-Almighty and the Apostles, was performed by a group of Moscow artists, who were specially invited to Khabarovsk by Bishop Mark of Khabarovsk and Priamur.
