Ishim Local History Museum
About the company:
The history of the Ishim local history museum begins its countdown from 1923. As in many other provincial cities, the museum in Ishim was created by the efforts of one person - enthusiastic local historian G. Levin, who was engaged in collecting and systematizing historical exhibits, as well as studying the nature and archaeological heritage of the Ishim neighborhood. Since its foundation until 1953, the museum did not have its own premises, and repeatedly changed the addresses of its collection. 20-30 years characterized themselves by the emergence of the first local history societies around the museum, the conduct of research works by their participants and the publication of publications devoted to the history of the city. With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War in connection with the transfer of a number of Ishim buildings to evacuation hospitals, the museum's activities were suspended. After a failed attempt to revive the museum in the postwar years, it was finally disbanded in 1953. Its most valuable exhibits went to the museums of Tyumen, Tobolsk and Yalutorovsk. Others are preserved in a number of school museums and amateur collections.
After many years of oblivion, only in the late eighties of the twentieth century begins a "new era" of the revival of the cultural and historical heritage of Ishim. Founded in 1989, the informal society "Cathedral", the main task of which was the restoration of the architectural monument of the XVIII century - Epiphany Cathedral, made a serious work on the collection of archival and historical materials. On the pages of "Ishimskaya Pravda" there is a page "Council", the editor of which L.A. Sarafannikova united the efforts of Ishim lovers of antiquity and systematized a large amount of information from the history of the city. This page helped to identify a whole galaxy of talented local historians. The Soboryan initiative played a significant role in the opening of the museum, which took place on December 21, 1991 in the building of the former parish school. The last decade has demonstrated the rapid growth of interest of the city’s residents to their native history, expressed in the active activity of Ishim local historians aimed at preserving and understanding the cultural and historical heritage of the city. In recent years, a large number of articles have been published, in a new way revealing the modern and pre-revolutionary history of the region, restoring facts about the merchant traditions of the city, long forgotten. Since 1999, the local history almanac "Korkina Sloboda" began to be published in Ishim, uniting a wide range of local historians, both from Ishim itself and from a number of other cities of the Urals and Siberia.
Currently, the Ishim Museum of Local History is located in two historical buildings of the city. The permanent local history exposition is located in the building of the former parish school built by Ishim merchant and philanthropist Nikolai Chernyakovsky. Visitors to the museum "Chernyakov school" can get acquainted with the halls dedicated to the nature of Priishima, history, life and merchant traditions of the city, as well as dramatic episodes of warriors and revolutions of the twentieth century, which touched the life of an ancient Siberian town. In another building, the former city government, temporary thematic exhibitions are regularly exhibited both from the funds of the Ishim Museum of Local History and brought from other museums in Russia. Currently, there is also a health museum in this building. In another hall of the museum there is an exposition presenting old photographs of Ishim, from which you can judge what the city and its inhabitants looked like fifty or a hundred years ago.
