Ognikovo-Pokrovskoye Manor
Description:
The Ognikovo-Pokrovskoye estate first became known in the early XVIII century, then it was the patrimony of A.S. Naryshkina (Chaplina), after which it belonged to M.N. Chaplin, major general of the engineering troops, later G.F. Potemkin and his family and other owners. Today, on the territory of the estate there is a park-hotel called “Ognikovo-Pokrovskoe”, only the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God is available for visiting tourists.
Unfortunately, many buildings of the estate have not reached our days. However, the brick temple, built by the landlord M.I. Lobanova-Rostovskaya in the early XIX century, can be seen today. The temple belongs to the popular in Russia of those years, the type of “eight on four”, later the southern aisle was added to the church.
A little away from the temple is a regular terrace park with a spacious pond and deciduous trees.
