About the Department of Wooden Architecture of the Museum "New Jerusalem"

In the park of the Museum “New Jerusalem” in the 80s of the last century was founded the Museum of wooden architecture in the open air. In the estate of the Kokorin family, built in the early XIX century, a permanent exhibition of peasant household items is opened. Exhibits presented in the hut and seine reproduce the rustic interior of that time. The wooden chapel, recreated from measurements and photographs of the XVIII century, decorates the clearing in front of the gates of the estate. On the banks of the river Istra stands a windmill of the XIX century, which until the 1950s milled flour. Now these unique monuments of wooden architecture are open to visitors.

At the objects of wooden architecture of the Museum “New Jerusalem” were filmed many feature films and TV series: “The Young Years of Stirlitz”, “The Case of Dead Souls”, “Admiral”, “Isaev” and others.

Annually, there are festive mass events and interactive programs: “Day of Slavic Literature and Culture”, “Christmas in New Jerusalem”, “Maslenitsa – wires of the Russian winter in New Jerusalem”, “Russian wedding”, “Moving to a new house”, “Peasant childhood”.
