House of the Bubnov family

The city estate of the Bubnov family was formed in the 1840-1880s and originally included residential buildings, a brick factory building and wooden outbuildings. Currently, a residential house Bubnovykh with mezzanine is preserved. Probably, the house was built according to an exemplary project of the late classicism era, has a very modest decor. It is especially valuable because it represents an early type of residential building, once characteristic of the village of Ivanovo, and now the only one in the city.

By the end of the 1880s, the house completely passed into the possession of Sergei Bubnov, who for several years was a member of the City Council. In the first half of the XX century. in the house lived the Bubnov family, later - his descendants.

In 1976, by the decision of the Regional Executive Committee of the Ivanovo region, the house with the mezzanine was taken under state protection as a historical monument. On November 4, 1978, the memorial house-museum of A.S. Bubnov - Bolshevik revolutionary, prominent party and statesman, People's Commissar of Education of the USSR was opened.

Museum staff maintain close contact with Bubnov’s relatives. They take part in the annual celebration of Andrei Sergeyevich Bubnov’s birthday, their family relics have been repeatedly used in the construction of exhibitions in the museum. Since 2002, in the House of the Bubnov family, work has been underway to create a series of chamber exhibitions dedicated to the history of famous Ivanovo-Ascension families under the general title "My Family". My bloodline. Materials of family archives are used here, acquainting visitors with the way of life, traditions and relationships in the family. Thus, the museum sets the task of strengthening the connection of times in the education of the younger generation.

The memorial space of the house-museum creates a confidential, informal atmosphere for theatrical excursions and events, round tables on the sociology of the family, chamber performances.
