The museum opened in 1985 and initially existed on a voluntary basis. Since 1993 it has received the official status of a museum. Expositions are presented in 3 rooms. 1st hall - the history of the city, labor and life of the population; 2nd hall - military (Kadnikov during the Second World War), 3rd hall - literary and musical living room. The museum presents autolithographs of the People’s Artist of the USSR A.F. Pakhomov (a native of Kadnikov district), an exposition dedicated to the composer V.A. Gavrilin, and the exposition “The Noble Family of the Zubovs”.
