Drama Theatre in Kaliningrad

Peace Avenue 4, Kaliningrad

About the company:

The Drama Theatre, better known as the Kaliningrad Regional Drama Theatre, is the largest theater in the city. Since its inception in 1947, it has been one of the most famous theatre scenes in Russia.

The theatre was founded in 1947. Since 1960, it has been located on its current site, in the building of the former German city theater Königsberg. This majestic structure was restored after the war in the style of Soviet classicism – high columns support a strict portico overlooking the Theatre Lane and Mira Avenue.

Today in the large hall of the theater can accommodate up to 930 spectators, there is also a small hall.

At different times, outstanding directors worked in the theater - such as Z. Karagodsky and V. Latyshev. In the theater, along with the plays of recognized masters, performances of Kaliningrad playwrights are regularly staged.
