Guardeisk-Chernyakhovsk-Gusev: a journey to the east

A trip to the east of the Kaliningrad region is a unique chance to see large East Prussian cities, their classical buildings, majestic churches and castles.
The first to the city on our way is Guardeisk, which has preserved its buildings. Here we will walk along its central part, take a look at the most preserved castle in the region Tapiau, look into the “cat courtyard”, see the place of division of the Pregoli River into two arms.
Then Chernyakhovsk is waiting for us – perhaps one of the most interesting cities of the region: its central part seems to be a frozen page of medieval history. During the walk you will see narrow streets with a cobblestone road, the Church of St. Bruno, the Reformed Church and the castles of Georgenburg and Insterburg, built in the 14th century. And it is also a city of equestrian traditions of East Prussia and the Kaliningrad region. During the tour we will visit one of the largest in the West of Russia horse farm "Georgenburg", where the world-famous Trakenen breed of horses was bred, and preserved the royal stables since the time of East Prussia.
The farthest city on our route is Gusev (Gumbinnen). We will visit the memorial “In memory of the forgotten war that changed the course of history”, made by Mikhail Shemyakin, and dedicated to the events of the First World War. Then we will take a walk through the quiet streets of the city, see the sculpture of an elk, and an ancient poster cabinet, look for coins in the “Coin Garden” and, perhaps, leave our own to remember, look at the former officer’s casino, where the local history museum has now located its interactive exposition. Accompanied by a museum guide (by prior arrangement, if possible), we will visit the agro-industrial college (formerly Friedrichschule), where we will see the majestic fresco by Otto Heichert “King Frederick Meets the First Immigrants”.
The route is long and long, so on the way we will make stops in the cafe, as needed, to feed and recuperate.

Excursion support on the way by car. Tickets to museums, a castle, a horse farm and a fresco are paid additionally.
