Kaliningrad

Ancient forts of Kaliningrad

Description:

Königsberg began with a castle for protection from the rebels and quickly turned into a fortress city, becoming more powerful every year.
By the end of the 19th century, it had become a non-criminal city, a first-class fortress. Hitler thought he could not be captured, but Königsberg fell to the Red Army.
Now to know Königsberg is almost impossible, but even after so many years you feel the former power of bastions, forts, towers, gates and other fortifications.
You will learn the history of the fortress city, see the bastions and towers that protected the city center and visit two of the forts of Königsberg.

1. The tour will start from the Don Tower.
The place where the resistance of Koenigsberg ended and the city fell under the onslaught of the Red Army.
2. Next, we will begin to inspect the fortifications of the Lithuanian Wall: We will see the largest bastion in Europe, inspect the Royal Gate and visit one of the dungeons of Koenigsberg.
3. After that, we will go to the 11th Fort Denhoff, which was practically unaffected by the fighting and is best preserved. On his example, I will clearly show the principles of the functioning of forts, there will be an opportunity to eat and try the famous "Coffee with Gunpowder".
4. Then we go to Fort 8 King Frederick I. I am personally involved in the restoration of this fort. He was subjected to a fierce assault and offered heroic resistance. We will walk through the fort’s poterns and secret passages, you will see the consequences of shelling of artillery and aircraft, I will tell you not only the history of the fort, but also about how the fort is currently being restored and search activities are conducted.
5. We will finish the tour at the Brandenburg Gate, which is still operating for its intended purpose, or in the Astronomical Bastion near the city center.
