Walk through the most beautiful places of our city, the district of Hufen and Amalienau with a visit to the Zoo and a break for lunch.
The tour begins with Victory Square – the center of modern Kaliningrad, where you will learn the history of the emergence and expansion of the city of Koenigsberg. About how the city was built and went beyond the walls of the defensive ring, turning gradually into a flowering city garden, you will learn, walking in the old district of Hoofen.
The district of Hufen begins from the Victory Square and goes deep into the streets of the old Koenigsberg built in the early 20th century, which are not only well preserved, but also have almost a park area. After passing this part of the tour, we will touch upon such attractions as the Drama Theater, the monument to Schiller and Peter the Great, as well as admire the sculpture of struggling bison, popularly called “bulls”. The guide will guide you through the “architectural explosion” of the early 20th century, which will appear before you in all its splendor.
From the area of Hoofen move to the Zoo, it is located on its historical site since 1896, which means that it was founded by the Germans. The fact that Kaliningrad Zoo is not like any of the Russian zoos, you will notice as soon as you step over its threshold. The zoo attracts locals to spend their Sunday leisure time.
After the Zoo, we gradually move through the former Hufenalle to the chic Königsberg Villas of Amalienau. The area, built under the project "City - Garden", will meet you with small houses, completely planted with rare species of flowers, shrubs and trees. After all, Amalienau was built for individual, elite housing, which did not imply farming, construction of barns and vegetable gardens. Fortunately, the area was practically not damaged during the hostilities, and now walking along almost park alleys, explore each villa. The guide will tell you what the concept was laid by the municipality of the city in the plan of this chic "garden". We will end our journey with a story about one of the most beautiful churches of the former East Prussia – the Kirch of Queen Louise. The history of its revival will not leave anyone indifferent.
