Description:
I will show you where the ruins of a medieval castle and churches of the 13th and 14th centuries hid in Kaliningrad. If you wish, you will visit two museums that tell about pre-war education and brewing. Meet the people who have given their heart to these places. And you will admire German architecture, Curonian Bay and unique nature.
What awaits you:
On the way, I will tell you why there are many canals in the Kaliningrad region and what Dutch engineers have to do with it. We will go to the village of Turgenevo to the Church of Gross Legitten, which now houses the Lutheran Church. The oldest parts of the building that have survived to this day date back to 1400.
The next point is the village of Zalivino. You will learn how fishery developed in the region, and you can go to branded shops with fresh products. Then we will walk along the ecotrail and find ourselves at the Rinderort lighthouse of pre-war construction. If desired, you will explore the house of the lighthouse keeper and climb the tower, which offers a wonderful view of the Curonian Bay.
Then we will go to the village of Ilyichevo to the museum "Old German school Waldwinkel", which you will visit if you wish. You will learn how the museum appeared and what was the pre-war education. If you are traveling with children, they will be interested in painting chalk on wooden boards.
The final location is the former German brewery Blankenstein in Polessk, built in 1840. During perestroika it was in desolation, but today a private entrepreneur revives her business. If you wish, you will go on a tour of the shops with the owner of the brewery and taste a beer.
