Kaliningrad

Castles are a legacy of knights

Description:

During the conquest of the Prussian lands, the Teutonic Order built castles in every major settlement. As a legacy from the knights we got many castles, some almost destroyed, some preserved almost entirely.

We will start the tour from a convenient place for you in the center of Kaliningrad and go to see the castles and cities of the east.

On the way, we will stop at Valdau Castle, where people still live, restore it and create a museum. Once upon a time, Peter the Great himself stayed there. On the example of this castle we can understand the life and culture of the Dukes of Prussia.

We will go to the beautiful city of Guardeisk in the center of which there is a well-preserved castle, and some streets still have the atmosphere of pre-war Germany. I will tell you the history of the castle and the city, show you the sights and beautiful places.

In Chernyakhovsk, we will visit Insterburg Castle, which is important for the Order, and walk along the old streets of this historic city.
