Monument to Baron Munchausen

In the Central Park of Kaliningrad you can see many original monuments, one of them to Baron Munchausen. This is a gift for the 750th anniversary of the city from the residents of the German city as a sign of common history and friendship. Baron Munchausen, a literary character, and his prototype, Karl Friedrich von Munchausen, are known for their adventures and inventions. Therefore, the monument looks unusual, as if Munchausen is flying on a ball. The author of the German master Georg Patau performed a sculpture in the form of a slab in which the baron’s silhouette is carved on the ball. This monument attracts tourists who are happy to be photographed for memory.
