Rosgarten Gate
Description:
Rosgarten Gate is an important historical value of modern Kalinigrad. They were one of the seven fortifications of the German Kenisberg and have survived to our time. The main purpose of the gate was to protect the city. The walls were surrounded by long holes, which could only be crossed with the help of a folding bridge. Also, visitors were taken taxes during the transition, checked documents. The gate was a kind of checkpoint.
Also, the gate is associated with memories of Baron Munchausen, who stopped by to drink a beer. He did not have the money to pay. It is symbolic that recently residents of Germany visited Kaliningrad. They came to see the sight, at the same time returned the debt for the baron in the form of several coins.
Rosgarten gates look elegant due to the Gothic style. At the end of the war they were in critical condition, so forty years after its completion the building was empty. However, the restoration began, and in 1996 the first restaurant was opened. In the north side there is a wardrobe, and in the south kitchen. The main dishes are fish, so there is a stone statue of fish at the entrance.
Getting to the Rosgarten Gate is easy. Located at the address: Vasilevsky Square, the stop "Marshall Vasilevsky Square".
