Sculptures of marine animals on the shore of the Upper Pond

Description:

Officially since 2007, by the decision of the Government of the Kaliningrad region, sculptures of marine animals are the cultural heritage of the region.

The sights adorning the western embankment of the Upper Pond of modern Kalinigrad were created by the famous German master. At that time, the city did not belong to Russia, but was called Koenigsberg. It's a sea lion, elephant seal, walrus and seal. In 2009, the first restoration was carried out. Two sculptures were preserved in their original form, and two had to be restored.

Three years later, work was done again. The animals have been moved from place to place several times, but now they are where they were installed by their creator.

Animals have seen a lot in their lifetime. War and fear, love and hope. As they say, each of them shows some human flaw or vice.
