About the company:

In November 1998 it was transformed into the Baltic Naval Institute. On May 24, 2002, by order of the Russian Government, he was given an honorary name, reminiscent of the famous Russian naval commander-Admiral F.F. Ushakov. Now the Institute is one of nine branches of the military training and scientific center of the Russian Navy Naval Academy named after Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union N.G. Kuznetsov.

The students of the university were on the nuclear submarine cruiser Kursk. Captain 3rd rank Andrey Silogava, captain-lieutenants Boris Geletin and Oleg Nasikovskiy, senior lieutenants Sergey Fiterer and Alexander Gudkov posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. In memory of them, an exposition was created in the museum of the Baltic Naval Institute.
