Church of George the Victorious "Behind the shops"

resurrection street 25/2, Kaluga

Description:

This church is unique for its architecture of the XVIII century, made in three different styles: Old Russian, Baroque and Classicism. Now in the temple there are ancient icons, among which there is the main icon with the image of George the Victorious. Also here is the venerated icon of the Korsun Icon of the Mother of God.

The main temple in the form of a cube with five chapters was built with a bell tower and a chapel. A little later the chapel was connected to the general building. The temple has a new iconostasis, but the painting of icons dates back to the XVIII century.

This temple is active, and now restoration work is underway. The interior of the temple has preserved the atmosphere of the Scientific and Methodological Center, which was previously located here. Also in the temple there is a staircase leading to the second floor.

The temple is located on Resurrection Street, the appearance of which has not changed for the last century.
