Paraskeva Friday Church in Mosalsk
Friday Mountain, Mosalsk, Kaluga region
Description:
The Church of Paraskeva in Mosalsk is the brightest example of provincial Baroque. It was built by Major Khlustyn in the XVIII century. In the style of Elizabethan Baroque, a three-tier bell tower and a five-headed four with a refectory were built.
The church, located on the Pyatnitsky Mountain, was with two aisles - Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Mother of God. The main temple is dedicated to the Great Martyr Paraskeva Friday.
Friday Mountain is surrounded by many legends and mysteries that usually arise in ancient places. It was in this place that the pre-Slavic settlement of the VIII century, which belonged to the Balts, arose. The Slavs built here a fortress with a rampart and wooden walls, which withstood any siege.
Now the church is abandoned, it is overgrown with grass and trees.
