Church of the Myrrhbearers' Wives
Description:
The Church of the Myrrh-bearers’ Wives is dedicated to the holy Myrrh-bearers because, according to legend, it was built by parishioners-baiters who make prayers on the day of the construction of the temple about the expulsion of cattle to the grass. In the church there is an icon of St. Vlasius of Sebaste, which is especially revered by pastoralists.
The wooden church was originally built in 1698. In 1767, the church burned down and a new stone church was built in its place. This church soon cracked, so it was decided to build a new church according to the plan of the architect Yasnygin.
In 1818, a bell tower was built here with a height of almost 75 meters. Since 1942 it has been used as a water tower.
Now the church on the main street of Kirov is a round pink tower in the style of early classicism, which is crowned by a hemispherical roof. The temple has huge windows that share semi-columns with Ionic capitals.
