The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Baryatino
village Baryatino, Dzerzhinsky district, Kaluga region
Description:
The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, built on the money of the landowner Anna Pozdnyakova, is a fine example of the Empire style. In addition to the main throne in the temple there is a second throne dedicated to the wonderworkers Cosmas and Damian.
With the advent of Soviet power, the clergy were shot, and all the property of the temple was seized and taken away. A granary was organized in the building.
In the 1950s, the temple was opened to the Orthodox, but it had to be restored. In 1999, only external repairs were made, but not as high-quality. Since 2001, the Remputmash plant has helped restore the monastery. After external repairs in the church painted walls, dome, ceiling chapel.
The temple contains the icon of the Mother of God “Lomovskaya”, as well as particles of the relics of many saints.
