Church of St. Nicholas in the village of Grishovo
grishovo village, Babyninsky district, Kaluga region
Description:
The Church of St. Nicholas, located on the Berezui River in the village of Grishovo, is an ancient temple founded here in the XVII century.
The stone temple was preceded by a wooden temple, built in 1662 and consecrated in honor of the Savior of the Image Not Made by Hands. In the XVIII century, on the site of the former temple, the landowner Shcherbachev built a one-headed temple with a three-part apse dedicated to St. Nicholas. The four in the main part smoothly passed into eight America. A bell tower with a refectory adjoined the temple.
The temple was three thrones. The other two thrones are consecrated in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Odigitria” and the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God.
After the revolution, the temple was closed, so by the 1960s the building had fallen into disrepair. Now the bell tower has completely collapsed, and the western wall and vaults have collapsed in the refectory.
