Kaluga

Temple complex in Trubino

trubino village, Kaluga district, Moscow region

Description:

The patrimony was substantiated by the boyar and voivode K.O. Shcherbatov. In the village of Trubino, he built a luxurious mansion and what he could, he helped fellow villagers. So, he allocated a decent amount for the bell tower in the Pafnutiev-Borovsky monastery.

In the 70-90s of the XVII century, in his residence, Shcherbakov ordered to build two temples: Znamensky and Voskresensky. They're still there.

The architectural complex attracts with its non-standard solutions for that time. The arches are several times larger than usual instead of arcade apses instead of pylons - apses. The shape of the church looks like a ship. The walls are very thick with small windows. There's a huge cast-iron door at the entrance. It traces the Baroque style.

Now all the buildings are dilapidated, but have not lost their former beauty.
