Monument to the 600th anniversary of Kaluga
Description:
The monument to the 600th anniversary of Kaluga is simply called “ball”. A huge ball installed at the entrance to the old part of the city of Kaluga immediately attracts attention. From this place there is a magnificent panorama of the bridge leading to the right bank of the Oka and the car interchange.
Kireyev worked on the project of the architectural ensemble, who developed a titanium pylon with a sculptural portrait of an astronaut, in whose features many guess Yuri Gagarin. This is not surprising, because the first street that meets visitors to the old Kaluga from this side is Gagarin Street. At the foot of the pylon there is a sphere - "ball". The six steles, which are located on Gagarin Street, display the most memorable dates from the six-century history of the city.
