Monument to doctors who died during the Great Patriotic War
Kaluga, corner of Kirov and Herzen Square Nurses
Description:
In the Square of military medical workers at the corner of Kirov and Herzen streets in Kaluga in 1975, a monument to military medical workers who died in the Great Patriotic War was erected. It depicts a field doctor, a woman in a developing cloak. There is an opinion that for the sculpture posed a real woman doctor, Kaluzhan E. Fadeeva-Urusova from the village of Rosva. Every year in the first days of May, a memorial fire is lit in the park.
At the base of the monument there are two memorable inscriptions: "To courageous medical workers in memory of their selfless service to the Motherland during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" and the one "that on fragile shoulders carried the Motherland out of the fire." The authors of the monument are sculptors N.N. Klindukhov and L.V. Prisyazhnyuk. In 2003, the nursery was completely redesigned. In it appeared the first city fountain with lighting.
