Monument to Internationalist Soldiers
p. Victories, Kaluga, Kaluga region
Description:
August 2, 1999 in Kaluga in the square on Victory Square was erected a monument to the wars that died in local conflicts while fulfilling international duty during the Afghan and Chechen wars. The monument designed by architect Evgeny Golyshev was made in St. Petersburg. Part of the funds for the creation of the monument were donated by the participants of the hostilities themselves. He represents the figure of a paratrooper in front of a marble arch. Nearby there are three snow-white slabs with carved figures of cranes. On the artificial granite slabs are carved lists of 197 names of internationalist heroes who were summoned from the Kaluga region, as well as the names of dead soldiers whose families live in Kaluga.
