River Luja

Luzha, Kaluga region

Description:

The Luzha River is the right tributary of Protva and the river flowing in the Kaluga region. Its length reaches 159 kilometers, and the total area of the basin is 1,400 square kilometers.

The river feeds on the snow.

The name of the river, presumably, has Finno-Ugric roots, so similar to the name of the river Luga.

During the period of intense snow melting, flooding occurs, and the water in the river rises significantly, affecting neighboring villages.

In the Luge, the same fish lives as in the Oka: roach, perch, stickers, yarshes.

Fishermen and other holidaymakers appreciate the beautiful and natural nature on the river, so far from the city noise and asphalt. In the swimming season there are many people who come to the river to swim, sunbathe and relax.
