River Protva
Description:
The Protva River, flowing on the border of the Kaluga and Moscow regions, reaches a length of 275 kilometers. It is considered the largest, after the Moscow River, left tributary of the Oka.
The river is inhabited by rattles, pescars, golavali, pikes, perch, silver karas, yazi and other fish that also live in Oka and attract the attention of fishermen. Fishing on the river is possible with fishing rods, flyfish, spinning and millets.
The river begins near Mozhaisk and flows into the Oka near Serpukhov. Many springs also flow into the river, which strike directly from the cracks of coal limestone. The upper course of Protva is heavily clogged with snags and reeds, but after Verea the river expands and becomes more full-flowing.
The depth of the river is different - ranges from 0.2 meters at rolls and reaches 3 meters in the pits.
